Using lamp cord for thermostat relocate

I relocated my thermostat out from behind the slide on my trailer onto the slide using the mono jack seen on another thread or forum. I used actual thermostat wire for the connection between the jack and the thermostat. Thing is that the thermostat wire is very stiff and is working but just sucks for flexibility.

I was thinking of getting a more flexible cord to use as the connection like a lamp cord. Being that this is for 120v I am thinking it should be fine on the 12v heater. I do not know what kind of amps run through the wire but just want to get thoughts on whether this would be safe. Thanks
