It certainly looks like it would be an improvement over the standard Christmas Tree monitor that is standard equipment on a new trailer.

If you are looking for a monitor that uses a more complex algorithm to determine when you've reached 100% charge after a deep discharge and any of the other 60+ capabilities of a Victron 712, this one will NOT be the one.

It most likely just tracks current out over time (ah) and while charging adds back it indicate state of charge. How complex would you expect for $33 versus $200+

Also, one should ask themselves what else they will be adding to their 12 v system in the future. I'm glad I went the Victron monitor route as I later added a Victron Smart MPPT controller to go with my solar panels. The monitor and solar controller work together to share voltage and battery temperature (which allows the solar controller to adapt charge rate to the temp.). If that's your goal it's good to look at items that can be integrated into a system and work well together.

Yes, often those items will cost more but it can be really nice to have an alarm that goes off at a given state of charge, over voltage, under voltage, high temp, etc, etc, etc.
