Just remember that “unlimited” is a sales gimmick. After speaking to the big 3 cell providers I learned that you certainly have unlimited until you hit a certain level, then they throttle you back. None of them offer unlimited hot-spotting, which they conveniently leave out of the fine print. I have the ATT top tier plan for unlimited and can only watch a couple of movies before I hit the throttle back phase while hot-spotting. Using just the cell works, but we camp in the mountains a lot and more times than not have terrible reception. We bought the Winegard carryout G3 because I could no longer get my iPhone or iPad to show on my new Samsung’s. The TV works and shows all my screen info...until I hit play, then black screen. Samsung said this was a new Apple thing to protect copyrights...whatev. Good luck.

I posted this earlier in the thread .... it is not attached to my cell plan... get the jetpack from verizon it is a prepaid plan and there is no throttle back wait some will tell you there is and that is OK ... I have used it in the house when my internet went down for 3 days and it never slowed down .... to be clear this is not a unlimited plan that attaches to my phone ***** this is what we have ... https://www.verizonwireless.com/inte...ck-mifi-8800l/ ... we paid for it and go month to month no contract $65 a month there is no data limit and no reduction in speed at any time .... works great as long as you have cell service .... we stream netflix and Dish app works way better than I ever thought it would ...

Link no longer exists.

I THOUGHT I knew some tech stuff. But it's passed me by.

Where we winter (3+ months), the Wifi is almost nonexistent. I have tv covered with a Trav'lr and a portable if trees are in the way. We don't stream anything.

I want enough bandwidth to check email (and this site, and others like it) daily. I might get on bank's site and pay a bill or check balance, for just a moment. That's our Internet access. We have AT&T because that's who has towers where we live most of the time.

Maybe should start another thread and ask this question. But I have to figure out something before next camping excursion. One in August, then another winter.

We connected to internet via phones (Samsung S8) and that worked. But it ate through our limited data plan in two days. AT&T has two unlimited data plans.....one is $65 more than what I am paying, and the other is $90 more. I have no idea what the difference is.

So....just not sure what to do.

Took the I pad to Verizon had phone number attached. All cellular data all the time $20 per month. We have not experienced throttled cellular service

Can stream Netflix and Dish from the dish anywhere app. I can also watch my home DVR recordings. I do have a cable from I Pad to TV for mirroring purposes.

No use of CG WiFi, no hot spots, no jet packs. Where ever I get Verizon cell signal I can stream. All day if I choose.

Just returned 51 day trip. Found a couple of spots without Verizon phone service.

Can use all functions of the I pad without the dreaded WiFi. Never have I used a hot spot.

My usage now averages at eight gig per day, occasionally higher. Best I remember is a peak month at 340 gig.

Current period Cellular Data
157 GB
TV viewing
Dish-57.2
CBS-37.6
Netflix-31.6

We have used this method for two years. Transferring from Sprint to Verizon for better coverage.
Hoping the information helps
