What's the difference, RV fridge, Domestic fridge?

We see a lot of units with domestic/ home type fridges, and it brings to mind getting fridges delivered over the years and being told they had to sit for 6/ 8 hours before plugging them in, if this still applies then surely using one in a traveling RV will shorten it's life span. Or, am I out to lunch on this?

domestic fridges have compressors and oil. oil can drain out of the compressor if laid on their side. returning to upright allows the oil to drain back.
