When will fridge kick in?

Shortly we will be heading south to get out of the frigid north. I am thinking that , while travelling, if the ambient temperature is just above freezing (say 40 deg F), then the fridge (and freezer) will not kick in. If so, the fridge will be OK but there is potential for the stuff freezer to start to thaw.

Does anyone know if this is correct or is my thought process flawed?

Thx

Frig temp is monitored by a sensor (thermister) in the frig and has nothing to do with outside temps. While driving you will be on propane to run the frig. It should reach normal operating temps in about 24 hours after starting.

Your just leaving the frigid north now? Here in Wisconsin it's finally starting to warm up a bit! Just kidding, I booked a cruise leaving on the 23rd just to get out of here for awhile.
