WiFi in RVs

Hi, I’m new to RVing, just started looking for an RV to take on the road to see America! Which brings me to this question: what is everyone doing about cell service while traveling? I am an old nerd techie. We use Apple iPhones & iPads so it is going to be essential to be able to connect to internet to keep in touch with family and most important online banking! What am I going to need? Can anyone recommend a good modem/router and also a good wireless printer? Any suggestions would be appreciated! T. I. A.

Since you're new to RVing, you're probably unaware that most campground Wi-Fi is poor and slow. So many simply use their cellphones as hotspots.

An often discussed topic here.
A search will bring up lots of reading.
WIFI and cell reception can be different discussions as well.

As was eluded to... many campgrounds simply don't have the infrastructure for good WIFI and cell reception can be spotty depending on where you plan to travel.

Let us know where you plan to go and what you plan on using WIFI and cell service for (ie: working/recreational) and we can give better advice.

Welcome to the forum.

WiFi in RVs

Lots of info if you search for "wireless internet in your RV". Tons of videos on YouTube. We have used a Verizon hot spot for wifi for years but the data gets throttled back after xx GB, depending on your plan. We just switched to a new service with Nomad. Unlimited and we bought a cheap Netgear MIMO antenna. You can spend a little, a little bit more or a lot depending on your needs.

I use a verizon jet pack and as long as there is a tower in the vicinity I do quite well and also can piggy back off cg wifi. I have unlimited data and it works good for me. I do have a wireless printer . It is a HP Laser jet Pro M15w wireless laser. It uses the powder type for the ink so you do not have to worry about ink drying up if not using a lot. Later RJD
