Winegard Shawdirect GM 700 Carry Out

For all Canadians that use the Carryout for Shawdirect the dish will become obsolete in 2019. They are moving to MPEG 4 HD for all channels and the Standard Definition channels will be shut off.

I called Winegaurd Technical Support and expressed concern about this and the first response was they have no plans to support MPEG4 HD on the dish. I explained the fact that nothing will work they are having a second level call me back.

I know the dish s small and in some cases cloud cover will cause low signal levels. The Satellite footprint and received signal is better on HD than SD. In fact I can see many HD channels despite the skew being incorrect or position for the third satellite.

The controller can be reprogrammed to receive the channels and all three satellites. They jut need to spend some R and D time to do so.

If you have one a call to Winegaurd may assist in moving this forward and fixing the issue.
