ZX700 questions

The Concertone ZX700 remote doesn't communicate with the receiver, so I've ordered a pre-programmed replacement remote from redi-remote off of ebay.

Here are 2 problems I'm having that may be fixed by the new remote??? I don't know. The manual has limited info, so a lot of this is guess-work.

1. The ZX700 doesnt seem to be making a video output to the TV. I've checked the connection. Video 1 out from the ZX700, to video 1 in on the TV. The wire and connections are good. "No input signal" on the tv v1 input with the ZX700 on. Is the video output from the ZX700 a function of the remote setup menu, to create the needed video signal from the ZX700 to the TV?

2. The surround sound "rear speakers", over the front couch, go on and off, (pulse on and off, on and off) about every 1.5 seconds with the ZX700 radio playing or listening to a DVD. Is that a function of the ZX700 surround sound menu accessed by the remote? The constant on and off of the 2 speakers is making me want to disconnect them. Those are the only 2 speakers that pulse like that. All the other speakers on A, B and C work as they should. I'm hoping this is a setting in the sound remote setup menu.

I tried a factory reset on the ZX700 and both problems persist.
I have the ZX700 manual but it doesn't address these problems.

Thanks for any help! Bob
