Haven't camped there but I hear very good things. I think all the sites are on the water. The sunsets from East coast of Lake Ontario are rated among the top 10 in the world on many travel sites.
When we RV in the area we are generally at Westcott Beach State Park - on the water, but no electric, sewer or water at the site. We can see Association Island in the distance. Be careful of speeding. In addition to sheriffs and State police, the State Park police also patrol the roads along the lake.
Sackets Harbor, just North of you, is a scenic village. If you have never been to the St. Lawrence Seaway, the 1,000 islands (there are actually over 1,700 of them) will be only about 45 minutes from you (Alexandria Bay) and WELL worth the trip.
