Don't follow your GPS for route to Anchor Down. If coming from North on I-40 take Exit 412.

X2, your GPS will take you thru the town and it was a little tight going thru town and having to make a right hand turn. been there, done that.

From Pittsburgh take I-79 to Route 19 to I-77 to I-81 to I-40.
Made this trip many times with various R/Vs.

The following is what is on the Anchor Downs web site about getting there and I've used this several times and it has worked out fine...

The easiest way to get to our resort from Interstate 40 is to take EXIT 412 – Deep Springs Rd (Your GPS will have you take EXIT 407 or 417. Drive past those exits to the EXIT 412). That way you will miss any traffic that is going on at exit 407. Coming from Asheville/Bristol Area take a left at the stop sign off of interstate and coming from Knoxville Area take a right at the stop sign off of interstate. Go about 2.9 miles to Hwy 139 (you will see Douglas Lake). Take a right on Hwy 139 and we will be about .9 miles on your left.

I will say that Anchor Down is fabulous, but......it also has a fabulous price tag attached to it.

While you are there, drive through both the Douglas Dam Headwater and Tailwater Campgrounds. You can see the Headwater from Anchor Down, just look across the lake to the right. They will cost you $20/night, but only have water/electric. They do have a dump station.

Unless we are wanting to use the amenities specifically at AD, we will stay at the Headwater to utilize our kayaks on the lake.

We have reservations for mid April. Our first trip of the year. Going then because itís right between our first grand baby (mar 15) and our second grand baby (May 15). Weíve never been there either but have heard a lot of good things about it.

Google maps has a pretty good path: I-79 to I-77, then I-81 to I-40. Take Exit 412. South on Deep Springs Rd to 139. Take a Left on 139 and it's a half mile or so down the road on your left. It's pretty easy to find to be honest.

The GPS usually only get screwy if you're coming from the Knoxville direction. For some reason it always wants you to get off an exit early by the Bass Pro Shop. It's no big deal. But if you're arriving on Friday - Sunday you'll probably be stalled in traffic heading to the Smoky Mountains.

Just remember coming from either direction on I-40...take Exit 412.

Anchor's Down is nice. We'll be there June 12-19

Yeah I already mapped it out on google and it's trying to take us on exit 407 but I changed it to take 412.

Was at Anchor Down last year for the unofficial Dynamax rally. Great park on the lake.
I have a 2017 I5 36DS.
Congratulations. Best advice is do a complete PDI, have the Dealer show you how to work every system and read each components owners manual before going on your first trip. Once you learn the systems the coach is easy to use.

Did you read posts #3, 4 & 5 or look at what Anchor Downs web site has to say about where to get off I-40?

From their web site...

GPS Coordinates: Latitude 35.9732780, Longitude -83.5193142

"The easiest way to get to our resort from Interstate 40 is to take EXIT 412 – Deep Springs Rd (Your GPS will have you take EXIT 407 or 417. Drive past those exits to the EXIT 412).
