Asheville, NC early April trip...

We are planning to stay in Asheville in early April and want to camp as close to town as possible, as our son lives within a 10 minute walk to downtown. We have a 20 ft Geo Pro with solar. Can anyone point us to some options close to town?

Thanks!

I always start with Google, thanks... What I've found is that there are plenty of places that don't show in a Google search, and that takes someone who lives nearby or "knows more" - that's what I'm hoping for.

We’ll be there March 28th to April 2nd. When we are there we always stay at Lake Powhatan Campground. I really enjoy it. Good mix of sites and sizes. Nice quite area but you still feel close enough. Solar could be difficult there but many sites do have electric.

Take a look at Campfire Lodgings. A short ride to Asheville, but away from the city lights. Campground sits on a mountain bluff overlooking a beautiful valley. Full hookups. Need to reserve quickly.

You and everybody else and their cousins. Hard to get a spot there nowadays.

We will be there in 8-13 April and have 2 sites at KOA West. We had a mntn spot at Gerties but had to give it up when some relatives wanted to also camp.

We've never stayed in either place before.

If you find a good place let us know. We will be going close to there in the late summer. I want to show wife the houses that my grandparents lived in nearby Canton NC. I haven’t been there since 1979 so I am sure that it has changed just like everywhere else.

I've stayed at the KOA west, it was very nice. The KOA east is a little more crowded but ok. Have a great time!

Asheville campgrounds

Do the Lake Powhatan campground, I live here and rent my RV so I have been to quite a few. It is in the woods in the city, with a small lake and great trails. But hurry and book.

Ashville and Biltmore

We enjoyed staying at Ashville Bear Creek Rv park. The upper tier sites are close to each other but the views are wonderful. We parked our 35 ft TT easily but some big RVs struggled to get backed in. Full hookups and nice facilities. Easy drive to Ashville, farmers market and shopping.

Looks like there are many good choices to choose from in the area. We are trying to figure out how long to stay as there is a lot to see in the area.
