Also remember there are lightweight long tt. And yes tires can greatly affect your capabilities if they aren't rated for the load.
Just because it's a SUV doesn't mean it's a bad set up. I pulled a 35' TT/ 7000lb with a Silverado 1500/ 20" wheels. It pulled great with no problems. So why can't a 3/4 ton SUV not do the job?

Because everyone knows that anything larger than a popup requires a DRW 1 ton. Never mind that I've seen pics of on of those on it's side with a TT.

Our Rockwood is compleetely enclosed as well. Wonder if this is just a new feature or a function of RV Make/Model?

That was exactly my point.

My guess would be:

1)Driver dozed off...started to drift....woke up, overcorrected, voila...

or

2) Big gust of wind, driver overcorrected, voila

My heart goes out to them, though....we would, literally, cry if something like that ever happened.

Looks like they should be thankful for that guardrail being there - could have gone the edge if it wasn't.

You can pull a fright train with a swing machine motor IF it is geared right but that does not make it safe or the right thing to do. Learn the rules for safe pulling. The old rule "Pay now or pay more later" is always a good rule to remember.

and that looks like the 2015 suburban body style. I wonder if an experience like this is enough to make someone give it up. hope everyone was ok.

I'm impressed that the bumper hitch with the carrier never left the unit, it still has its load secured.
Someone had to put a fact into this tale, because the rest is speculation.

Clearly the receiver hitch isn't the weak link, huh!
