Beach trip

Has anyone ever done a trip of just say the beaches along the east coast and if so are campgrounds readily available close or a short drive. Would like to end up some where in key west. Just thinking out loud and would love some thoughts and input

Yeah, most anywhere you go- you can either get close to the beach or camp next to it. In a few cases, you can feel like you're *on* the beach.

As mentioned, Cape May and the surrounding area have quite a few places that are 10-15 minute drive.

Rehoboth Beach has Delaware Seashore State Park.

Maryland has parks in Ocean City.

Myrtle Beach has beachfront campgrounds.

And on and on.

Sounds like an excellent trip!

Though, Key West really doesn't have beaches - there are bayfront/waterfront campgrounds there, too.

Many campgrounds, private and state parks on the beaches or very very close to it along the Eastern Coast in all states. Do a quick google search and you will be overwhelmed. Many great places to stay, but you should always have a reservation for 'weekends' at these places and sometimes even during the week as a 'site' may not be available. happy camping, touring the coast.

We pretty much did this a few years ago started at Cape May and went down to the keys then up the other side of Florida. So many awesome places. Florida state parks are great, Anastasia, Sebastian Inlet etc. Curry Hammock and Long Key in the keys, Fort Desoto on the west coast of Florida, up to Port St Joe then our favourite Florida park, St Andrews in Panama city Beach. You should continue west along the Emerald coast for the best beaches, Grayton, Topsail, Henderson, all in or around Destin. Then Fort Pickens in Pensacola Beach. Don't forget Alabama, Gulf State Park. All of the above are state parks, so are very affordable.
Enjoy!
