Best Route

Driving from Savanna to the Dallas area first week in December. Trying to decide whether to go north thru Atlanta then on to Rt 20 or south thru Jacksonville then take Rt 10. Taking a week so we have time to see the sites. I welcome any suggestions.

Living near atlanta and knowing the route fairly well, I can say 16, 75, 285, 20, don't have much to offer except a lot of crazy drivers at high speeds. I don't know I10 well enough to compare it.

Highly discourage using I 20 thru Bossier City and Shreveport, LA. I 220 connects just east of Bossier City and it is barely better but much less traffic.

I have been on both roads I would t brag on either one. I haven’t looked to see which route is faster for you. Currently I would be more concerned with damage from Laura than anything else

I-10 or I-20

As others have said, nothing good about either route, but I believe I-20 is much better.

I know the road can be rough in several areas on I-20, but in my opinion not for as many miles nor as bad as I-10. From Houston to Biloxi (about 400 miles) is so rough, has so much traffic and seems like every other bridge is one lane for repairs.

I picked up a new M H in Louisiana and drove back thru Houston. I believe the abuse from this road caused small repairs that were more than the next 10,000 miles. My last trip on this part of I-10 was about one year ago. This road has been bad for many years and I don't know of any repairs being done.

I live in central Texas (approx. 100 miles South of Dallas) and drive North to I-20 when traveling East to avoid I-10. Going to I-20 adds over 100 miles to my trips East, but I avoid I-10.
