Exclamation Bridge closings in Birmingham,AL

Just a little heads up. All bridges on I20/59 in downtown B’Ham will be closed for upwards of a year beginning Monday the 21st. Travel safe, Blu Skies

I just looked at the ALDOT site and I don't see anywhere that it states that they will be closed for a year. Maybe I missed it. It really doesn't affect me as I always use 459 around Bham anyway.

Local TV reporting a year possibly longer. I’m thinking the numbers of vehicles diverted from 20/59 will choke 459 as well. Like you I avoid B’Ham like the plague.

Your most welcome, I65 is moving "normally" I459 traffic is heavy but moving along. Dramatically increased police presence on I 459.

Bham is always a problem, but this advertised and promulgated closure is 14 months. Today, even one of the suggested detours is closed but reputed to be open for rush hour Monday 1/28. 459 is even bad now. You may even want to reconsider whether to attend to normal RV Show in Feb, the normal time for it. I avoid the down town area as much as possible.

Time to take the "scenic route"?

I suspect congested in B'ham is still better than normal rush hour afternoon in the traffic hell known as Atlanta. At one time it was like #4 of the top worst 100 congested commutes in the world.

So far traffic seems to be moving pretty well on 459 & 65. Definitely better than Atlanta! I’m always for the scenic route.
