Camp Cedar near Kings Island Ohio

FYI: Camp Cedar near Kings Island Ohio is now taking reservations for the season. DW got us a week near the end of June. Approx. 125. a night. No transportation to Kings Island at this time per the park but it is only a mile away. no affiliation but thought someone might want to know.

Another good place near KI is Olive Branch CG. About 15 miles north of the park on I71. Good easy access (less than a mile) from the freeway to the CG, We were seasonal there for 5 years. It's under new ownership now, so I don't know any info currently.

Saw that and was excited until I saw the prices!! Wow! Little rich for my blood, especially when you figure in the costs of admission to KI.

$125 a night is NO bargain in my book. I just paid $137 a night at Boyd's in Key West where B&B rooms go for $500 a night in March (well versed on KW B&B pricing, my brother used to own Artist House in KW). Kings Island is no Key West.

If you don't mind a 30 minute drive mostly interstate to KI, their is a pleasant county park campground north of Cincinnati, Winton Woods that gets the most usage on weekends. Access the reservation system here...

HUH --Their web site quotes $47 and $42 for pull thru and back in per night respectively. I don't see the $125 anywhere. I just might not be seeing it.

Now I was seasonal there for 5 years while I worked away from home during my last working years before retirement.
One thing I did notice is their seasonal rate went from $1700 to $2400 per season. They do have a lot of rules and multiple signs for each rule which is really annoying.

but-- it is a clean CG, not noisy or rowdy, and is a good place for families, and I always felt safe there.

And for another alternative is Ceaser's Creek State Park CG one exit north of Olive Branch. Also a nice area.

Interesting that they are saying no affiliation with KI. Local paper has been saying otherwise: "Kings Island hopes to improve demand with Kings Island Camp Cedar, a luxury outdoor resort scheduled to debut at the Warren County amusement park in the spring."

Oxcamper may have the wrong site. This is the first year for this place. As for rates, it is costing us 399. for 3 nights in a 56 foot pull thru site with the usual amenities. Still have the cost of tickets to KI to include but DW and I are too old for there anyway. We can hang out by the pool and relax while the grandkids and their parents go to KI.

For kicks I just checked and in Mid August nothing under $109 a night, guess we will just have to use the Thousand Trails park up the road. It looks really nice but not in our range

Thousand Trails is a nice park. Plenty to do there and a quiet setting. Close Caesars Creek and Waynesville that has some nice places to eat. Enjoy!

We enjoy the Wilmington park and do get to use it some in our travels, we even found out that someone here on the forums lives very close and reached out to us once while there and we had one of the best times visiting folks and now that is one of our reasons to plan a stop. Once again being a FROG has given us the chance to meet some really GREAT people

Camp Cedar used to be a good deer hunting area,Olive Branch has LOTS of signs and a golf cart riding Storm Trooper! The price of Eggs around 1000 Trails went way up from the 50cents since you were here also! Youroo!!

Well, this is the place I seasonal'd at:
https://www.olivebranchcg.com/rates/

in Oregonia, OH, just north of KI.

So maybe I'm still missing something here.

BTW: my Avatar is our seasonal site (S1) at Olive Branch. We were watching the world series.

We stayed at Olive Branch for a month at a time in 2016,17 and 18 when we visited our son and daughter-n-law when they lived in Maineville, OH. We really like the campground. It was quiet and well maintained.

Looks like things are not going well for Camp Cedar. The opening date has been postponed three times already. Customer reviews are not pretty.

Camp Cedar

we had our reservations canceled twice and the second time made last minute into Olive Branch up the road. Very quite and peaceful. Lots of shade and plenty of room to get in and out. At this point, I wouldn't stay at camp cedar if they paid me to. Did have one interesting thing happen at Olive Branch. Guy pulled in next to us with a brand new TT and rented enterprise truck from Calif. Had been staying in the TT while transporting it across country and did not know how to empty the tanks. Actually opened the box containing drain lines while there and park people showed him how to empty the tanks. He took on a load of water and an hour later was on his way. Did not say if it was his TT or just being delivered but it had been slept in and his Yorkie had baptized the carpets.
