Campground near Scranton/Wilkes Barre
I'll be in the Scranton PA area this Friday evening on my way to the FROG Rally. Can someone recommend a decent campground that's easy on/off I-84 or I-81 for one night? I would also consider a Cracker Barrel or Walmart but very concerned about safety. Anyone have any suggestions?

I stayed at the one just south of I-80 white haven exit once.
Sandy Valley Campground.
I found it noisy and the campers were pretty much out of control.

I stayed at a different place in White Haven last fall, I can't remember the name of it but hopefully I don't wind up there again. I really like Hickory Run state park- its not too far from 81. I am also a fan of Promised Land state park. Depending on where you're coming from that might work for you too.

Thanks Lou. Thanks Dave. I'll avoid Sandy Valley and check out those State Parks.

Thanks BOBFIDY. Looking forward to it!
Update: I might be able to hit the road a little earlier on Friday than I expected so there's a good possibility that I can get to I-80 (west of I-81; Moyers Grove, Bloomsburg, Milton, etc) before calling it a day. Does anyone have any suggestions for an easy in/out campgound along this stretch of I-80?

There is Bellefonte / State College KOA | Camping in Pennsylvania | KOA Campgrounds Bellefonte KOA north east of State College I stayed at when we went to Erie and I liked it.
VERY easy on/off I -80; nice campground; full amenities.

Thanks Lou. In case i don't get that far before sundown, are you familiar with Indian Head Campground in Bloomsburg? It appears to be close to I-80. I'm finding mixed reviews, but I don't need anything fancy. All I really need is a safe place to spend the night.

Sandy Valley was "safe" Per Se, but the 4th of July "wildlife" drove our 6 month old Bella crazy. Literally.
She came home from that trip gun shy and with chronic fear syndrome due to the fireworks that were being tossed under the campers all night.
No experience with the Bloomsburg campground.

We just spent this past weekend at Pioneer Campground just north (~25 miles) of Bloomsburg in the Endless Mountain area in Sullivan County. Maybe a little out of the way for an overnight, but we loved it there for the weekend. Very nice owners with great lots - beautiful scenery. Good luck and Safe travels.

We can vouch for Pioneer, we spent 12 nights there in May after taking delivery of our new Creek. Great owners, nice campground, worth the effort to get there? you betcha! Coming back all the way from Spring TX & soon too!

David-o,
May I ask what you chose in this area and how you liked it?

Dave,
We ended up using KOAs for all of our overnights traveling to and from the FROG Rally. Our first night we stayed at the Williamsport South / Nittany Mtn KOA in New Columbia, PA. It's reasonably close to I-80 and a very nice campground. We didn't walk the grounds because we weren't there long enough, but what we did see was clean and well maintained and the staff was very friendly.
We used a different route to come home from the Rally. Our last night on the road we stayed at the Kinzua East KOA in Bradford, PA. We had some time to walk the grounds here. Nice place, friendly staff. Most of the campsites are in a field which was very nice. Other sites are in the woods which to me seemed a little dark and difficult to navigate. I guess it's a matter of personal preference.
