Campground Review: Addison Oaks County Park: Oakland County, MI
We returned yesterday from our first even camping trip with our 2017 Cherokee Grey Wolf 26BH. What a great experience!
I couldn't be happier with our choice of Addison Oaks. We live in Royal Oak, about 5 miles north of Detroit off I-75. At 5pm on a friday night, while trailering, it took us UNDER an hour to get to Addison Oaks, which is on Romeo Rd, at Rochester Road (about 2miles north of Twin Lakes Golf Course).
I believe the reservation was for Friday and Saturday night and cost a total of :$68. We were in spot 35. I would have picked a different spot but I am unfamiliar with the protocal for reservations and picking a space. It was pretty sunny but they've planted LOTS of great trees in the area, which will create shade it a few short years. It was 85-90 degrees all weekend and the heat wasn't a real issue. The spots were huge with plenty of room to park the truck (or two if necessary) and the camper. Burned a hole in our new RV rug which sucked, but that was my fault.
The facilities were extremely clean and the entire park was free of litter. The Oakland county sheriff did his rounds at LEAST once an hour. You could have a ton of fun and drink and as long as you're not being an idiot, it's a great place to be. We didn't see anyone out of control and at 9pm, the park was QUIET on Friday night. I took a 3 mile walk with our stroller and 5 month old around the park and lake (the park is 1700 acres so it has a LOT to offer).
The showers and bathrooms were among the cleanest of any public restroom I have ever been in. The showers were $.25 for about 5 minutes. I put in a second quarter and wasted it, not knowing how long it would go for.
The sewer dump station had 3-4 stalls and was extremely easy to use.
All in all=we had an amazing time for our first time out (our teething 5 month old made things a little stressful at night but Addison Oaks gave us everything we needed to have a successful trip.
Five stars!!!
