Camping at Tanglewood, NC

We just spent a extra long weekend at Tanglewood Park just outside Winston Salem, NC.

The campground was very nice, the rates where great at $31.00 per night. All the sites where paved, and moderately level. My back-in site sloped down toward the back, so I ended up using chocks under the front wheels because the rear levels lifted the rear wheels slightly off the ground (they where still touching the ground, but barely. I noticed some of the sites sloped the opposite direction, so I guess it is just a matter of picking your preference.

The location was quiet, clean, with full hookup and free cable (70+ channels). it did get VERY dark at night. There is a off leash dog area about 200 yards from the RV park, a walking trail, and they actually had a farmers market on Saturday.

We have stayed there before. The last weekend of the camping season is also the first weekend for the light festival. We stayed in the campground and got to see all the lights without having to pay or wait in the long line.

Fields,

That was a lucky break. I think that is coming up, the 1st weekend of Dec.

Any noise from the dog run? We were told that it can be noisy at times.

Evereddie,

None, and I was on the 1st row facing the park, I could see it out my front window. Also, the park closes at dusk, so the only folks there after dusk are the campground people.

That has been on our short list to try. Since no campfires are allowed, I was keeping it on the summer list. The light show sounds like a good camping weekend too.... I probably won't have my sabre back from the factory in time to try it this year but there's always next yr.
