Camping near Washington DC

I'm planning our summer vacation, and we're looking at camping near the DC area in late June. Any campground recommendations?

Anybody know anything about Duncan's Family campground?

We're looking for the following:

Pool.
Large family friendly (we have 8!)
Reasonable.

Thanks in advance for any advise you can give!

X 2 on Cherry Hill Park, but book early, they tend to fill up in the summer.

Another thumbs up for Cherry Hill. Family friendly, large pool area, good coffee and sandwich shop, large well stocked camping store. Closest one to DC area, with buses to take you to the metro for easy access to DC.
Food/grocery store/shopping center a mile up the road.

Duncan's would probably be the least expensive but not the best choice for ratings or distance from DC

My parents and two other couples with Motorhomes stayed there a couple of years ago and they didn't have enough good things to say about Cherry Hill Park. I'm glad to hear it from others as well because I recently booked a spot there for the week of June 12-18. Looking forward to seeing the sights of DC.

Capital KOA much better than Cherry Hill. Stayed at Cherry Hill my last Trip to DC, the park was a ghost town but yet they still packed the few trailers that were there right on top of each other. The private tour bus was very unreliable. The KOA is in a much better area than Cherry Hill.

All of these Cherry Hill reviews make me very happy. I have some commitments in DC in June and with some quick searches decided on Cherry Hill already. So glad to hear that it is a well like establishment... Thank you all.

Thanks for the replies. Cherry hill is expensive, as they charge for additional guests per night, but we may have to bite the bullet. I'll also check out Capitol KOA.

We stayed at Duncans while visiting your capital. on a scale of 10, I'd give it a 7.5. Friendly people. Lots of trees. Nice pool.
I would recommend it.

Duncan Family Campground

We stayed there last July with our four grandchildren and one daughter-in-law so there were seven of us. We used it mostly as a base camp for going to Six Flags and visiting family in Chesapeake Beach, MD. They do have a pool with a slide which the kids loved. They had lifeguards which was nice and sold snowcones at the pool. It is a fairly large campground and pretty heavily wooded. Roads were a little rough. They have cabins and some permanent type lots also. We enjoyed it and would probably go back again. We used our camper's showers so I am not sure about the condition of theirs.

This is our third trip to DC and this will be our 3rd stay at Cherry Hill Park. I can only say that I could find a better place to stay than there. The straff was very pleasant and the bus to DC and back was Great.
