Myrtle Beach KOA. technically not on the beach but only 4 blocks away and they shuttle you back and forth all day in golf carts

I just made reservations for Jekyll Island campground and James island county park in Charlotte, SC because they are dog friendly. Never been there tho, and would love to hear first hand experience.

Our favorite (so far) Beach campgrounds are:

- Camp Hatteras http://www.camphatteras.com in the Outer-banks for beach camping. So much to do and the beach is great.

- Hunting Island State Park https://southcarolinaparks.com/hunting-island. Love it here but the hurricanes have taken their toll. But best place I know of to cycle on the beach

- Rivers Run on Tybee Island https://www.riversendcampground.com. Nice campground with easy bike ride to beach.

We also do an annual trip to James island County Park. Easy jaunt into downtown or out to the beaches and a nice RV park.

Since moving to NC from CA we have only ever camped at the beach at Myrtle Beach Travel park...and Carrabelle Beach RV Resort in Carabelle, FL both we nice campgrounds.

Dogs were allowed on the beach in Florida at any time...In Myrtle Beach anytime after Labor Day and certain hours like before 10AM and after 5PM during the Summer Season I believe.

Gamble Rogers State Park has some sites on the beach at Flagler Beach. Flagler has dog friendly areas, but you cannot take them on the state park entrance. I’m not sure why. We saw plenty of dogs on the beach there when camping last week. You will need to book way in advance for a site, or keep trying for cancellations. We love that area, especially Flagler and Ormond Beach. It’s not upscale. There are plenty of places to fish, kayak, boat, and bicycle. Motorcycle too. There are no buildings between route 1 and the beach for much of it, so a drive along the beach is truly that. There are a few other campgrounds there, but they all look tight and don’t appeal to us.

Hanna Park Campground in Jacksonville FL was a somewhat short walk to the beach. We stayed there last September and, as I recall, we were allowed to have the dog on the beach on a leash. Pretty reasonably priced too. Just be careful of some trees near the roads which you can scrape the side of your RV on!

We presently are at Ocean Lakes campground in Myrtle Beach. We are ~100 yards from the beach and can see the surf from our window. No highways to cross to get to the beach, just walk through the campground. It is private (gated) and very dog friendly.

Riversend campground on Tybee Island is an easy walk to the beach (~4 blocks),

We were scheduled to stay on Jekyll in October 2016 following a stay on Tybee Island, but Hurricane Matthew had other ideas. Driving back from Florida 10/18 we then got to experience Hurricane Michael (we're 2 for 2 Florida trips and hurricanes).
We did manage a quick trip to Jekyll and I can't wait to get back for an extended trip. Beachs not crowded, even on a Saturday, very bicycle friendly and don't miss driftwood beach - goes on for miles.

Florida State Parks do not allow pets on the beach. Panama City Beach does not allow pets on the beach.

We stayed at Huntington Beach State Park just south of Myrtle Beach SC. Very nice park, great facilities. Right on the beach, we could hear the surf in our trailer. The bath house/laundry was nice and very clean, hiking,

Been thinking of a staying at Huntington. Can you give recommendations on sites or best/worst areas of the park to be in?

Any other useful bits of knowledge would be appreciated.

We will be at jekyll in may. It's a great place. Very few people and great scenery. Restaurants are lacking so you may have to ride a bit or just cook in. Really great for biking and history tours. Beaches are great for scenery but not so much swimming. You will love it. I will add that the Marriott has a restaurant there with killer scallops if your into them.

We will be there in a cpl weeks. It's great. Closer to the ocean sites with no trees will be on the front row near the office. Most of the others are tree areas. Biting bugs can be really bad there in the warmer dates especially toward the beach so bring repellant. The hurricane tore the place up a cpl years ago and they are still repairing areas. The front sites stay booked so you will need a few months reservation to get those sites depending the time of the year. There are some youtube videos of the place but they are pre hurricane and it's much diff now because a lot of the vegetation was washed away with the beach front sites. It's still a great trip though.

Beverly Beach Campgrounds is within ocean spray of the beach....literally. You can backup right to the sea wall or across the street on A1A. Not cheap, but nothing directly ON the beach is.
It is 15 miles North of Flagler Beach with plenty of places to eat and a GREAT farmers market on the town square on weekends. Lots of “stuff” for sale other than veggies.

DO NOT come to Huntington Beach State Park! There, I warned you!

It's horrible with these despicably spacious sites and empty beaches.

And fire rings at every site! The nerve!

We like Huntington Beach State Park just south of Myrtle Beach. Great park, right in the ocean (hear the waves from the TT) reasonable rates, full hook ups. There is a North and South camping areas. Dogs allowed in both, allowed on the beach in the south. I think was about $50 a night for full hook ups
