Cape Canaveral Launch viewing
Hi,
March 2, SpaceX is scheduled to launch its first crew ship (unmanned) at
Cape Canaveral. Could someone suggest where is a good spot to view a launch, were we could park and stay overnight in our SunSeeker Motorhome
Thanks

Jetty Park in Port Canaveral is perfect but may be full. From there you can walk out on a pier for a fantastic view of any launch [emoji573] otherwise there is a boat ramp just to the west side ofJetty park that has a large parking lot where lots of people go to watch launches and your motor home will fit there if you come early

Titusville is a good spot and unless they have changed the law you can stay overnight in your RV during launches. The Walmart at State Road 50 and I-95 is always available. A good spot to watch is anywhere along US 1 but everyone crowds into the parking areas on the east side. Most of the time there will be nobody in parking lots on the west side of US-1. You won't miss anything by watching it from 100 feet further away!!
The downside to Titusville right now is the river stinks. Algae bloom I think. If you overnight at Walmart you won't smell it.

Jetty Park is right on Cape Canaveral... there are campground full hookup sites, and also many 'dry camp' sites with only water, but right on the water way where all the cruise ships come and go, and a perfect viewing area for the launch....just put out your chairs and enjoy!

Suggest trying Manatee Hammock Campground in Port St. John. It is a real nice county park and they have a pier out into the Indian River. They are almost due west of KSC.

All very good advice locations.
Jetty Park best but books early especially in season. I’ve been a snowbird here in Cape Canaveral for 33 years directly on the beach.
Best advice get here early, not by mere hours but days. Take in some sights enjoy and settle in for the launch.
Even if it gets scrubbed (canceled at 2 min and counting) it’s worth coming.
I’ve witnessed countless shuttle launch’s and rockets. Nothing like it. Good luck.

Thanks for the heads up! We have a site booked at the Great Outdoors RV Resort March 1 thru March 31 in Tittisville. Then on to the Sun N Fun Int'l Fly-In and Expo in Lakeland, the beginning of April.

rocket launch
Manatee Hammock Campground, actually across the river from the launch pad, nice campground, I believe they are in Tittusville (Port St. John is close) they lost a few sites in a Hurricane. any of the sites available are fine for a few nights. Walk out on the pier, or sit in your lawn chairs in the open area near the water. Jetty Park is overpriced.

All good suggestions. The River right across from the Old courthouse is a great viewing spot and does not get crowed like the area by the shopping center. Worked across the street from the old courthouse 11 years. Saw lots of launches.

We've caught 2 launches about a year apart just by luck at Jetty Park. If the campground is full, there is a lot of dry camping sites right on the channel. Theses are electric only for some reason.

Rocket
I was there when they tested the Saturn 5 rockets, unbelievable! If you get a chance GO! I had an uncle that worked there, you could feel the ground shake and feel the heat from 2 miles away.

Where were you 2 miles away. The closet (press location/countdown timer) is more than 4 miles away??
