I would invest in a carriage ride of the old downtown. It is well worth the investment as most drivers do talk about the history of the town. You can also visit the central downtown market. Just leave your charge cards in the trailer, or you could be short some $$ if your wife likes jewelry.
You can also visit the second USS Yorktown aircraft carrier that is located in the harbor.
Here is a list of things to do:

We went there back in 2016 and stayed at the campground at Johns Island County Park. We were only there for a few days and had slide out troubles, so we didn't get a whole lot of sight-seeing in. But, here's what we did:
  • Fort Sumter: which is where the first shots of the Civil War were fired
  • Horse Carriage tour
  • Walked around the market area

I also drove the wrong-way down a 1-way street and just after that, hit my mirror on a tractor trailer who was parked along side of the road. The city streets around the university area are very tight.

We had a great meal at a local place. And we had dinner at Mellow Mushroom; a chain, but really great pizza.

Was there for a week a few years back. You will not run out of things to do and will not have time to do some things you may want to. Too many things to list.

Walk around the waterfront to see the beautiful Charleston homes in that area. There is an old rice plantation a bit north of the city that is well worth a visit. I can’t recall the name of it, however.
