What would be a good campground to check out full hookups? Thanks alot from a camper rookie

Cherokee NC where to stay

Happy holidays has good reviews. My parents stayed there once and it seemed pretty good. Close to the casino too.

I wouldn’t call it a true camping experience though. More like mobile hotelling.

last yr we went to Cherokee and stayed at Quality Inn. Won't do that again. One reason we got a camper. Thanks for replies. I am checking things on the net but someone who has been there is a much better source.

I don't know the area very well, but when I'm looking for campgrounds I'll check reviews on Campground Reviews - Trusted Reviews of Campgrounds & RV Parks and www.campendium.com.

I know you're asking for people who have been there, but barring that- either of these sites may help.

Stayed at Indian Creek Campground up the hill or mountain, depending on your point of view. We think its great. 2 running trout streams. Good clean facilities.

We rent a cabin near there every spring and go past this campground on the way to it:

Timberlake Campground | Whittier, NC | Official Website

It gets VERY good reviews here (search the forum, they come up every few months) and looks like a great place to stay, maybe 20 minutes from the Casino.

Going to see Styx? I’ll be staying in the area on a motorcycle trip that weekend, we’ve been tossing around going but aren’t sure yet if we’ll all feel like a show that night.

We've stayed at the Happy Holiday RV village - very spacious, easy to get to, right on the main road into town... they also have their own music on weekends, at their band stage... get a lakeside site.

The KOA and several others are WELL north of town, and on a very curvy and tight road, well past the BlueRidge parkway entrance, so it can also be very crowdy traffic...

but, if you look up on google maps and zoom into the area, typing in 'RV PARK' as your search term, you'll see many pop up...

We've stayed at the Cherokee KOA twice. While it is pricey, it is also really nice. Especially if you can get a site right on the river.

If you join the Good Sam Club, you save 10% at participating campgrounds (I think KOA is one), and 5 cents on gas at Pilot and Flying J!

Yeah I saw them in Durham in June or July. One of THE BEST concerts I have been to. They still got it.

We have stayed at Tuckaseegee RV resort in Whittier several times. It is about 15 miles from Cherokee but a really nice campground and the hosts are great. It is on the main road and just across the river which parallels the road. The only problem with the CG is that there is no AT&T signal there .

Thanks for all the replies. I called Happy Holiday and they had a creek side open for like $20 a night less than the KOA. Lets hope all is good. If not we will look into other recommendations next trip.

Check this place out. Beautiful views! Not right in Cherokee but not far.

We stayed at the KOA, it is a really nice park. I think it's worth the price.
There is a Jellystone up the road, but I'm guessing it's probably the same price if not more. Also a few other camp grounds on the way to the KOA. Not sure the names.
