Cherry Hill Park reservations

For folks that have stayed here when do you reserve your site as in how long out do you contact them? We would like to stay middle of May, 2020 but do not have the exact dates nailed down yet.

Thanks, Dave

Yes, I know I can do that but I still would like to hear from folks who have stayed there.

I just went on their site now and can get a full week starting next Friday so I'm not so sure long rez lead times are needed...especially with school still in session in May.

We stayed there last August 6-9. We made our reservations in late June, with no problem. Nice campground, by the way, but try to avoid the beltway in rush hours.

I just made my reservations for September 2019, no problem. Your trip for May 2020 you might want to plan far ahead for that. Make your plans as soon as you have firmed up your dates. May is a busy time in Washington, and you are getting close to Memorial day, which has had plenty of visitors including several thousand motorcyclists to honor and remember soldiers. The campground is fairly big and once there you can park your rig and ride the bus or transit train into the city. You can drive to where the train is about 4 miles and hop on the train, might be a bit cheaper if you have a group with you. There's is too much to see in one day or even three days, but enjoy it as long as you can, you won't be disappointed.

We made plans for 2 camp sites and a cabin in December 2018 for mid June (a couple of weeks ago. The two camp sites were together, and the cabin was just a few feet away. Cabin was next to bath house in front, out camper sites were behind bath house.

So, all that to say that I suspect earlier reservations will get you into a better site. There may be something last minute, but it may not be an ideal site.

We stayed there in April and made our reservations in Feb. We had to change our arrival dates two times as we were waiting on the birth of our granddaughter. They were great to work with on the dates. The only challenge was not being able to get a premium site. If you want one of those book now.
We already have our reservations for April 2020 and was able to get our choice of premium sites.
