Cloudland Canyon State Park, Georgia
My son has a summer internship in Chattanooga and I was thinking about visiting him. He wants to go hiking and we both love the Georgia mountains. I couldn't find anything at all that sounded good in Chattanooga as far as RV parks. I saw that Cloudland Canyon is not too far away. I have a Crusader 290 which is about 36 feet nose to tail. Does anyone have any experience with a 5th wheel in Cloudland Canyon state park? Are the sites reasonably level and easy to get to? The rangers are slightly less than helpful when it comes to answering RV questions. thanks in advance!!! Any suggestions for other places in or around Chattanooga that would be good to visit are welcomed.

Our family had a trip planned in SE TN late last year, got canceled, but I had made reservations @ Cloudland Canyon SP due to it being close to TN & our 5'ver ( little longer than yours) would fit with no problems.
I'm sure you'll get responses as others on this site have camped there...good luck

Headed there this weekend. My wife and I love it. They have many campsites that will accomodate your needs. Very level and lots to do and lots of hikes in the cg itself. The only problem is all sites are first come first serve, so plan on getting there early.

Post some pics please. Had someone tell me about this park while we were in Florida last week. DW had trouble finding any site pics on the internet. Thanks

This is an absolutely beautiful campground. There are 2 campgrounds in the park. I chose the West Rim Campground because it had some pull throughs although my 32ft 5th wheel would have easily fit in most of the back in sites. Also at WR the sites are more wooded and separated from each other. The East Rim campground is pretty crowded and no privacy. All in all I found the sites to be level with nice clean bath houses. (These are important since there are no sewer hook ups) each site has a fire ring, picnic table and grill with level patio type area. There are plenty of things to do in and around the area, especially in Chattanooga which is 25 minutes north. I will post photos this evening. Side note.....there is a cool group of girls here called the Georgia Girl Guides who do wild cave tours and hikes for reasonable prices. We did a 2 hour wild cave tour that was outstanding but not for the faint of heart! Lots of mud and walking through knee high cave streams.

Note...the blue tarp on the camper in the one picture is a host and he had a leak in his roof during the last rainstorm. He was quick to point out that it wouldn't be there long. Just till he got to town to get some sealant. All the sites are clean and tidy and the hosts come around about a dozen times a day. They are always emptying trash cans and picking up anything thats out of place.

Havent been there to camp but beutiful area. Another SP you might think about is Fall Creek Falls SP. It's 45 minutes north of Chattanooga in Pikeville and there is tons of hiking and biking to do there. They have 175 sites some with sewer. I would recomend the "B" sites as there are very large and accomidating. We just got back from there this past Monday. Awesome trip!!
