Elk neck state park

We are looking at Elk Neck State Park but noticed a prominent warning on the website about the presence of a lot of stink bugs here. Has anyone been there in the last year and can you offer any guidance? Were they a problem? Thanks for the help.

Stink bugs were a bear last year in MD and Western PA! We stayed at Elk Neck and felt it was way less infested than a couple campgrounds we stayed at near the greater Murrysville-Uniontown area in PA! My advice to you would be to make sure you have insect screens on your fridge and furnace vents, and if you have slide-outs make sure you don't have any daylight when opened.

Called my friend ( Ranger at Elk Neck). They have had some issues with stink bugs in cabins, but not really elsewhere in the park.

Have stayed at Elk Neck numerous times. Sometimes the stink bugs are annoying, but not enough to worry cancel a campout. Stayed there once with an infestation of ladybugs. I had to vacuum them up.

They have one loop there that has full services; electric, water and sewer and also allows pets. There are also many campsites that only have electric. Nice place to stay.

The hike out to the lighthouse on the point is a nice side trip.

Have fun,
Don

Thanks everyone. This is a place we really want to get to but some in our clan have an unusually high aversion to the things. Not that you won't see them everywhere but the large warning on the website makes it worse.

I have camped there many times. Stink bugs are a problem everywhere in the area. Watch out for chiggers there
