Extended Stay Western NC

Does anyone have any recommendations for extended stay campgrounds in western NC? We are looking in the Cherokee area but anywhere in the mountains would be great. We will be in Maine this summer, our third year in the northeast but would like a place closer to our home in north Florida, only with cooler weather! Thank you

We enjoyed a week at Fort Tatham ( near Sylva) and have wanted to go back for a longer stay since. When we were there it had recently been bought by Carefree resorts. The onsite hosts/managers couldn't have been nicer

We liked Mayberry campground in Mt Airy. Full hook up sites, big rig friendly, great staff. They were awesome for our FROG Rally. Not sure how cool they are in the Sumner though. Most of the campgrounds around Boone are not big rig friendly. We learned that the hard way.

I have heard good things about yogi in the smokies and jellystone in marion but never been to either.

Stayed at jellystone in Marion as well. We have 3 kids and they have planned activities throughout the day for them. Nice having one less thing to think about. Sites were nice with full hookups

Elkrun, You might want to take a look at Bald Mountain Camping Resort. Real nice privet owned CG and I believe they have extended stay sites. This is in North Georgia mountains and is only about an our from Cherokee. Hope this helps you out a little.

We have stayed at Creekwood Farm RV resort in Waynesville. http://creekwoodfarmrv.com

The creek sites are nice, some are a little tight but friendly place close to hiking and several good restaurants.

Take a look at Mama Getties Hideaway near Asheville. It has some great sites/views on the mountainside.

I stayed in Greenville SC, 1 hour from Maggie Valley & Ashville. 10 miles out of NC. Anyway and I am not a KOA fan the best campground I ever stayed at was the Greenville KOA. It is owned and operated by a retired Texas firefighter his wife and sons. This family is awesome and so are the grounds. Clean everything. I felt like I was part of the family and could never say enough about them. They escort you to your site. Will help back you in, get connected and just about anything you wish. Need propane just call the office and they pick it up from you and return and connect it for you. I just cannot say enough about how great this place was. I stayed early March 2017 and Wow is my experience. Travel safe & enjoy.

Just as an FYI, Jellystone in Marion is no longer a Jellystone. It is under new ownership and renamed to Hidden Creek. I have never been there, but it is on my list of places to go if we ever make our move down to NC. North Carolina Camping Resort - Hidden Creek Camping Resort

We spent three nights at Grandfather Mountain RV park last weekend. We were in a pull through up on the hill. They have some nice back in sites along the river (creek). I give it a 7 on a scale of 10.

We looked at 16 locations in North Carolina and northern Georgia about a week ago. We decided that we will stay in northern Georgia at Trackrock Campground. It is located between Blairsville and Young Harris halfway between Chatuge Lake and Nottley lake and just south of the NC/Georgia border. Very pretty area and the campground, as well as the surrounding area, meets all of our needs. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
