I have the EZ Pass from Delaware. I can go anywhere in the NE. I pull my trailer and get charged for it by the axles. Never been a problem so far.

Their site says you should get discounts on tolls but it appears to only be CFX and Beltway toll roads. For roads they don't operate you have to contact that toll road so maybe if you call PA toll roads they can tell you if e-pass gets a discount.

Hopefully that helps you.

Thanks!
That does help.
$23.80 is the same toll I get charged for 4 axles across that same stretch with my PA E-ZPass
It's over $30 if paying with cash.

During one of my calls to E-Pass Extra, they did mention a 'frequent user' discount just on CFX roads and that it would show as a discount on your account after a certain number of uses. I suspect that is the savings line you mentioned.

Neither E-Pass Extra nor PA E-ZPass could tell me if their particular transponder gave the discount in states other than their own. Your toll proves they do.

I'll be canceling my E-ZPass account and getting the E-Pass Extra.

Thanks again!

Oh and BTW... the folks at E-Pass Extra said the transponder is like $18.95 with a one time $10 activation fee and NO monthly fee. You must keep at least $10 in the account and you can set up automatic replenishment in multiples of $10.

That's all slightly better than the PA E-ZPass at $35 for the transponder, no monthly fee and $35 minimum balance.

Mike
My question wasn't if the thing works in other states (it does) the question was does it give the discount in states other than the state it was issued from.

And we now know it does. (at least E-Pass Extra does)

In Illinois, the transponder is $50. $40 goes right into your account and $10 is a deposit. Return the transponder and you get $10 back. So really, the transponder is free.

Yes, I failed to mention, of the $35 in PA, $25 goes towards your account and $10 deposit. Which you get back if returned in good shape.

EZ pass is great for bypassing long toll lines. I’m in PA. You do need to keep an eye on your account because I have noticed the transponder does not always register when you exit and then you get a fine that is tacked onto your account without a notice. Has happened to me twice and from what I understand is a common occurrence in PA.

I think you can generally avoid this if you associate your plates with your EZ Pass account.

I have never been fined since I got the EZPass and we run PA turnpike and bridges a lot. But all our tags are registered with EZPass.

In Illinois, they will charge your account based on your plates 6x/month. More than that and they fine you.
