Fall colors trips suggestions?

Hi! Has anyone gone on a fall colors trip in the East? I'm looking to figure out where to go, when to go, where to stay, what's fun to do, what to avoid, what not to miss, etc... would love to hear your experiences and suggestions. Thanks!!!

Pigeon Forge TN is a nice place to go, lots of campgrounds and lots of nice places to eat at. Also a very nice National Park, Great Smoky Mountain National Park. A few campgrounds inside the park

We went out east about three years ago. Went to MA, ME, and VT but you need to book early your sites. As the tour company's will run fall color tours and will take up most of the campgrounds in VT and NH. I ran into this in July when we where booking our trip for the fall.

If you do VT there is a self guided tour of several places such as Ben and Jerry's ice cream plant, Green Mountain coffee and so forth.

In ME we stayed around Kennebunk Port and toured that area.
