Nice trip but HEAVY traffic with 18 wheelers along I40 really congested around big cities . Just part of the journey.

I drove tractor trailer for UPS for over 25 years and would rather travel with trucks then cars, just give them room. Around large cities I tried my best to travel in the 2nd lane to avoid the on ramps, some people just do not know how to merge!!!!!

I am learning how to share the highway with 18 wheelers, they have the right of way by size. I just try to stay out of the way. I do generally travel in the middle lane around city's to avoid the merging traffic. If my GPS says I have a exit or turn comminglin

Left Albuquerque this am arrived in Oklahoma this afternoon. Trip went well the traffic was not as heavy this time. Only 1 screw up on the trip ( so far ) about 4am this morning started getting cold in the windjammer. Got up turned the heat and nothing Out Of Propane. Switched tanks back in business. Used 30 gal in 7 days. Ran the heat at night with Temps in the low 30s. Headed to Tennessee tomorrow. Getting better fuel milage up to 11.5 now.

Hope you have an opportunity to visit the Murrah Federal Building Monument in Oklahoma City. Very powerful!! Very quiet!! No one who visits there will ever be quite the same.

Finally back in VA, mountains really look great. Camping at a koa near Natural bridge really a nice place, great views. Be back home tomorrow. Covered over 4000 miles in 10 days, quite an adventure, learned a lot, could not have done it without the help and advice of the people on this forum. It gave me confidence and knowledge to make the trip. Thanks again.

Charles Firth: Happy to know you are home and safe in Virginia. You will now be able to re-live your RV experience for years to come with the photos I am sure you have taken on your trip. I have loaded thousands of digital photos of our trips over dozens of years, and they pop up on my computer screen-saver every day. Enjoy!!

Wow, 4000 miles in 10 days, awesome and one day I'm hoping to do something like that, or close to it anyway, glad you made it back safe.

4000 miles, 10 days around 300 gallons of fuel. I can tell you the diesel preformed perfect. I actually forgot I had 7500lbs behind me. Thanks again for all the advice on this forum, I can't thank you all enough. Everything went well because of preparation. Only regrets was packing to much driving in a short period of time, 10 hr days back to back can be rough, my attention span is about 30 minutes. Other than that the KOA's fit the bill, real near I40 and always accommodating. I chose mostly LOVES travel stops to fuel up, restrooms clean, no employees with attitudes really friendly. Its obvious they enjoy what they are doing. Plenty of room for RV's. Only gripe is when there is a car parked next to the rv pumps on the outside, they pump their gas, talk on the phone, go inside leaving their car blocking the lane, come back outside and finish their meal in the car before pulling away, but that is part of the journey....

Charles Firth, so glad you had a safe and memorable ytrip. We often stop at LOVES, as well. Your comments about those inconsiderate drivers blocking access to the diesel pumps really hit home. Inevitably, when there is a station with one diesel pump, there is almost always an empty passenger car parked there, while the driver goes inside to the rest room or convenience store. And......of course....there are several gasoline pumps with no one there!!
