First road trip with our Lexington GTS283 from Ottawa targeting Assateague

Hi there, we're planning to leave our area early May for our 1st road trip to USA with our newly acquired motorhome (a 2015 bought late summer 2023).

We see two options for crossing the borders and thinking of doing a loop trip, so crossing at Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, QC/Champlain, NY on one way and at Prescott, ON/Ogdensburg, NY or Lansdowne (Thousand Islands Bridge)
ON/Alexandria Bay, NY on the other way with ''final destination'' South being Assateague.

We have e-bikes, we're not tracking a small car. We like nice bike and/or walk path trails, we take a lot of photography, and are foodies (food and drinks ) . We will most likely become Harvest Hosts members, and do boondocking mostly, we don't like crowded camping site. I love beaches but hubby not that much

Any hidden gems to see? Great tips to share?

Congrats on your purchase and first international RV adventure.

Couple of tips at the border……

1. Remove your sun glasses on approach. Watch for RV lanes!!!
2. Hand your passports to the officer before they ask for them. Bonus points.
3. It’s your motorhome, so you’re allowed alcohol onboard….within moderation.
4. It’s best to NOT transfer fresh produce or meat across in either direction.

Crossing back at the Lansdowne/1000 Islands Bridge, allows you to immediately circle back towards home by first taking the 1000 Islands Parkway Eastbound. Very scenic. You can continue to travel HWY 2 Eastbound as far as you want before taking HWY 401 to the border.

Enjoy.

Check ahead for a places to stay. The last time we went to Assateague State Park, we made reservations in February and had little to pick from for our July vacation

From Assateague State Park, we went over to Pokamoke State Park and rented kayaks to follow "water trails" through the cypress swamps.

Thanks! I had forgotten about the scenic parkway! We crossed a few times, but with the RV will be the first time

Will be looking at that very soon, I'm hoping to be in a less busy season since we're planning to be there somewhere in May. Any preferences or places to avoid in the area?

Marking Pokamoke State Park on list of potential places! Thank you!
