Fort Wilderness
Heading to Disney Thursday night for the weekend with the grandchildren. Always a good time for them and for grammy and grampy. Very relaxing campground if you want it to be. We will spend a little time in the parks also.

We usually go every February with our sons and their families. Always enjoy FW and the parks.

Sounds like a lot of fun.
Quick questions - Does Fort Wilderness fill up quickly and, if so, then how far in advance do you recommend to make reservations?

It usually depends on the time of year you want to go. Since we go during Presidents week, we make our reservations a year ahead. I think that if you want to go when school is in session, you may be able to get a reservation more easily and not have to make them very far in advance. Since they get cancellations all the time, if they are booked when you want to go just keep calling them back to see if a site became available.

For our Christmas trip, we had to make our reservations just before last Christmas.

Good to know. I thought a year or so might be required in peak season.
tmmar - Good suggestion to call often. Maybe I'll get lucky for March.

Call early in the morning. I was told that when they get a cancellation that it will show up in their system the next morning.
Good Luck!!

Camped there the first year FW opened as a kid. Just booked for a week this spring. I was told there are still a decent amount of spots available. It will be neat to see if I remember anything from that long ago.

We went there in June..... They had plently of open sites. It is a great place to go. We also stayed at Tropical Palms, which was about 5 minutes from Disney. The only problem was that it wasn't "in" Disney, but it was about half the price. I highly recommend both places.

last year we booked in jan for march. didn't have any problems. was also able to move to the lower priced (older section) campground without problem. when we got there, it was full.
if ur not fimiliar with it and leave in the morning (went to buy diesel) and come back while the gates are closed, turn right just before u get to the gates and go around the building to the right of the gates. we waited at the gate and walked up to the building only to find no one there. saw someone else back up and go in a side road.
