Gamble Rogers Memorial AP

Very nice Atlantic coast park between St. Augustine and Daytona. There are 34 beach sites and a new River side with 34 sites that just opened. Reservations are fairly hard to secure, but did you know there are 3 first come first serve sites. Call the park if you need more info. It is a well managed park; best I've seen.

I didn't see this post when I wrote a separate report about the new area on the river side:

We checked out the new sites a couple of weeks ago. Nice sites, everything is new with gravel sites that appear to be very level (we did not stay there-just looked). Sites are completely out in the open- no shade at all.

Friends of ours will be the campgorund hosts on the new side for the next 6 months. They wander all over the country being hosts and just love it. Met them in Alaska as they were managing a campground in Homer that we stayed in, Met back up with them in Georgia Lake Lanier (COE) and then they were in Ocala FL . Great people to sit and talk with. If you get by Gamble Rogers look up Wayne and Judy

Nice report Chris. Beach side... All odd numbered sites are on the ocean side with exception of #34.

The bath house (and dump station) is between 23 and 25 with the best sites for the view... 13. 15. 17, 19, 21, 23... 5 and 11 are nice. Across the main drive from this list... even numbered sites do have a partial ocean views as well.

Only 15 is a problem if we get a lot of rain.

The short sites are 25 through 34 with 29 being the shortest as 20'. No ocean view on that end and parking is tighter as well. Some sites on that end can accommodate up to 22' backing in is the issue, at times.

Overall the deepest site is probably 12 where a 42' toy hauler was last parked.

River side can accommodate any size rig.

There is about 1/2 mile of beach front. Love, love, love it! I am the host here for a couple more weeks. There are often day at a time sites available ocean side, but no problem getting in to the river side (ICW). Riverside also has a host couple. The park is the best managed I have seen with very professional rangers and hosts as I understand it, it is the first 3 time awarded Florida park.
