Cruise industry does that too. Fuel costs go up between purchase of ticket and cruise? No problem. They will surcharge you for difference. Funny they don't give you a credit if prices go DOWN.

To help pay for our diesel fuel on next year's two-month cross country trip I took on a part-time job scorekeeping at a nearby hockey rink for evening men's league games. It doesn't really pay that much but if I can make a couple of thousand dollars over the winter, I put all of the cash in a little box which I don't count, we should be fine on our trip. The only thing that kinda stinks with the gig is the hours are between 9 PM and Midnight and usually Friday and Saturday nights. Oh well, keeps me out of trouble.

Gas prices have never been a determining factor for me when to go camping. My wife is the determining factor

Funny how that works! Same with the reason cited for baggage fees (never went away) and fuel surcharges on deliveries.

Last Monday, I stopped in Dixon, Ca to fuel up my Ram. At $4.65 a gallon for diesel, the bill came to $114. I whined and complained but what am I going to do? I still have to drive and travel for the holidays.
Nice to return to NV where fuel is about 50 cents cheaper per gallon.

Diesel Fuel in my next of the woods Denver, NC 20 miles North of Charlotte has been coming down in price I paid $3.05 the other day at a Murphy's Express. Regular is cheaper at $2.88 a gallon.

Fuel prices quoted for California are exactly the reason my DW and I are only planning to stop in Napa and spend up to a week, and then get out of CA as quickly as possible. A stop at Yosemite NP has been scraped with the change in travel plans. I can see paying more or less as you travel through different parts of the country, but knowing a good portion of the outrageous difference in CA prices are taxes (as is the prices in New York State)I do not wish to share my part-time job monies with the state.

I just got back from my annual Texas run, What ran $200 last year, ran $500 this year. AL fuel was $3.20, Parts of Mississippi and Louisiana were I used truck stops to fill up at were $2.99, Then it was $3.19 in Texas. Averaged about 9.75 MPG running at 68 to 72 mph. However it was great to see family and had a great time, so therefore it was worth it! There was however a lot more traffic this year then last. I'm sure next year it will be a disaster with all the future road construction.

Drove OTR for a major freight truck line and a major tank/hazmat company and I will guarantee you that the majors are not paying the pump price that ordinary folks are paying. Their contracts with the major truckstops are anywhere from 35-40 to 75 cents or more below what your seeing. Their savings fluctuates as the pump price increases or decreases.

Here in Anchorage, diesel has gone up 4¢/gal to $3.29 in the last month. Surprisingly, gas has dropped 15¢/gal to $3.35 in the same time frame.
These are COSTCO prices. Other stations range from 15¢ - 35¢ more per gal for the same fuels.

Depends on who’s going to eat, truck engine or yourself. Food prices might take it all.

Just in the last 2-3 days diesel has gone up in Western NY about $.30 a gallon! I have no reason why, $3.89/3.99 a gal. To our friends in California, what is the price of diesel in your neck of the woods? We have Napa, Yosemite already booked for June, and are looking at Sequoia NP too. However, if diesel gets much over $5 a gallon, we may pull out of our CA plans.
Just back from Walmart. This time of year when I run out I like to start building supplies for the coming camping season, which starts in mid-March for us. Because of handling convenience I still use the one-pound Coleman propane cylinders. This time last year Walmart had them two for I believe $6.47. By the time last season started, I had about eight of them on board. Today, Walmart had zero propane, and the shelf price, if they had them was $9.98. I hear Amazon calling with the converter hose kit to go to a big tank.
Social Security? What a joke, taunting their big 5.9% increase. What they don't mention anywhere is their over 20% Medicare co-pay increase! You couldn't go to a costume store and buy a clown suit better than what the "suits" in Washington are wearing.

We're staying in the El Centro, California area. Diesel is running between $4.55 to $5 per gallon.
It will almost certainly be higher in the Napa and Yosemite areas.

That’s for sure, where do they get 5.9% food 30%. Fuel, home heating, gas Diesel pretty much 30%+. Currently Diesel in Sonora and the Black Oak casino $4.50.
Fortunately I have my own retirement so I have been raising prices too.
Casino could easily drop theirs .25 since they don’t have sales tax. They are more competitive with Diesel to keep the log trucks coming in.

Here in Anchorage, Diesel prices average about $3.63/gallon, up 34¢ from 2 months ago. Name brand stations are in $4 territory. Gas averages $3.39/gallon, up 4¢ from 2 months ago. Name brand stations are in $4 territory as well. Hard to gauge what prices will be in 3 months when our camping season starts.

Just came from Groveland and the Claim Jumper which is actually a couple miles west on SR 120 route to the park. They are $4.45. Generally Diesel goes down and gas goes up in the summer. But with the virus scandal and everything else nothing is normal.

Thanks for the CA fuel spot check. I handle the prices mentioned, but if they go up say another $1 per gal. by summer, oh boy!
I thought Alaska was energy-independent? Guess they still have to refine the crude.
