There are many RV camping options in that area, so you might want to narrow it down with preferences. What experience are you looking for? Do you want to be packed in tight like on a gravel parking lot, or do you want some space and grass? Do you want to be inside the Smoky Mountain NP? Is it important to be on the trolley bus line? What is your price range? How close do you want to be to Gatlinburg?

We have altogether stopped camping in that immediate area because we are tired of the traffic and crowds, but in the past we had been happy with Camping in the Smokies, east of Gatlinburg, and Ripplin Waters at Sevierville.

Imagination Mountain in Cosby is nice. Backs up to the park and in a fairly quiet area.

Checkout the campgrounds in Townsend if you are looking for less commercialized & quiet side of the GSMNP. There are several campgrounds on the Little River with nice amenities. There is also the Wears Valley area which has some RV campgrounds. It is a beautiful area & has a traffic free back road access into the national park which comes out at Metcalf Bottoms & there is also quick easy access into Pigeon Forge by way of HWY 321 which you can then have a short drive up to Gatlinburg.

We've stayed at Mill Creek Resort & Campground several times and like it because it is off the main Parkway about a half mile so it's quiet but close to The Island, Dollywood and Gatlinburg. They also have trolley service to all the major attractions so you don't even have to drive if you don't want to.

It is also close (about 3 miles away) from the Gatlinburg Welcome center and the tram service that goes into Gatlinburg. Just park your vehicle at the large parking lot and take the tram. No fighting traffic!

When we were last there, there was another campground opening up just down the road about a half mile. It wasn't open yet but watching the construction, it appeared to maybe be a nice place as well. I believe it was called Gateway to the Smokies R/V Park & Campground. Someone local there mentioned it was possibly owned by the same nice folks who own Mill Creek but I can't confirm.

We recently stayed at Up the Creek RV Campground. Outside the heavy traffic with shuttle service to and from Pigeon Forge.

Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are crowded lively towns that remind me of east coast beach towns, like Ocean City, MD, just in the mountains. They're crowded and noisy and have a lot of partiers. If you're into that, find a place close by. If you don't need cell reception and want to be a bit more off the beaten path, stay in the national park. I can't recall the specific names now, but I think it was either Cades Cove or Elkmont that is still quite close to Gatlinburg, but gives you the national park camping experience. Book early, as they fill up fast. And before booking, use Google Maps to find out how far from things you are. Things are deceivingly far from each other in the Smokies. It's easy to look at a map and think you're staying just down the road from Gatlinburg only to find out it's an hour and a half away down twisting roads.

Just came back last week from
https://creeksidervpark.com/
Was recommended by Youtubers
KYD.
Had a great site with Walden creek behind our site.
It was quite considering how close to all the activities in PF.
Shame, Great Smokies NP is really crowded.

Stayed at Creekside a couple of years back. Although the creekside sites are a little tight, having the creek behind you is like having your own back yard. Quiet, very courteous staff, garbage picked up daily at your campsite, and a toilet/bathhouse that had more water pressure for the showers than I have at home, and, playing loud country music as you go about your daily hygiene ritual!

Great place in the middle of Pigeon Forge and just a few miles to Gatlinburg and Smokey Mountain Nat'l Park.

Not sure if you're interested in more of an RV Resort, but we just stayed at Anchor Down during peak week and it was perfect. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge were both just a mob scene and it was very nice to escape back up to a very quiet campground after a day of hiking.
