Good seasonal site between Vero and Okeechobee

Our grandkids will be moving to the Okeechobee area in the next few weeks and we are looking at pulling our fiver from Cincinnati to there in November.

I would be interested in an area running from Vero Beach to Okeechobee. Doesn't necessarily need to be on water but close to a lake or river would be nice.

Any suggestions on campgrounds?

This will be our first very long pull, up until now every trip has been under 6 hours so any advice regarding breaking up this 1000 mile trip would be helpful. We generally travel at 60mph, no more than 65 so I'm thinking 2 1/2 days minimum.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

just over the Ga/FL border I always stay at Stephen Foster Folk Cultural Center State Park... nice park with lots of spots... have never needed a reservation yet in 4 years traveling in fall or winter...

there is a nice overnight area at a Interstate rest area just north by about a mile of the I-75 I-475 split north of Macon, GA... TT rest area separate from the trucks rest area... nice for an overnight if in a hurry

Look at Silver Palms RV park in Okeechobee. Welcome to Silver Palms RV Resort in beautiful Okeechobee Florida Very impressive. Spent a long weekend there. The largest KOA in their system is in Okeechobee, 750 sites. Also check out a place called River Ranch RV Resort. It is north of Okeechobee, interesting place, my wife spent a month there with the RV while I was away on a job. Lots to do there. 367 sites.
