Highly recommend Skidaway Island State Park campground in Savannah GA

Just spent memorial day weekend at Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah Georgia and I think it is my favorite campground so far. Of course I have only been camping for a year now so don't have that many campgrounds under my belt.

The drive into the park is beautiful with tree lined street and lots of Spanish moss. The spots are big and well spaced, lots of pull throughs and room for large trailers though I only have a 25 footer. There is a nice walking/bike path through the woods and marsh. Next time I will take my kayak and get out on the water.

I will be back at some point as I didn't get to do nearly all the site seeing I wanted in the area.

Believe it or not, I didn't take any pictures except a few with my crappy cell phone. Did shoot some video, may post a link here once I get it up.

Agree, Skidaway is a great campground. We went there over Christmas and had a great time. Many of the sites I saw were pull through and they were all nice size. Plenty of trees for shade although we didn't need that in December.

We were there for spring break and it was awesome. It also serves as a great base camp for exploring Savannah.

X2...and don't forget about nearby Fort McAllister, very similar campground and if you have friends who want to join you but don't own a camper, they just finished building new cabins and they are high end looking inside

we base camped at Fort Mc Allister and went to Savannah to visit Fort Pulaski. Great fort! Mc Allister is very interesting and different as well. We live in Jax, so we go to Fort Clinch in Fernandina often. Another great campground, if you can get reservations. Pulaski is like a completed Fort Clinch, sort of. Randy

We were in Skidaway just last week. Might be the prettiest campground we have ever been to. Here are three pictures of the campground and one of the entrance to the fantastic hiking trail.

Looks nice and I love quiet. Save to my favorites for future consideration.

I recommend Skidaway too. See my blog for more pics. My only complaint is the cable TV did not work and I'm told it has been broken for a long time. I didn't go there to watch television, but I just wish they told people when they checked in. I probably wasted a good hour troubleshooting my RV before I figured out it was a lack of signal at the cable. However, we picked up a bunch of channels on the OTA antenna.

No vable when we were there 2 weeks ago either. Also, the power/water pedestals are far away from where you park, as you can see in the photo. Those are my only complaints, other than tje raccoon stealing the food we left out while we were biking!

We stayed there a few years back. Beautiful area with the spanish moss hanging off all the live oaks. They had just finished a new bath house in the back of the camping area that was really nice.

The sites are very large and many are not well defined so it is easy to have a long stretch for the hookups. Since I was a fairly new camper, this is where I learned to see where the hookups are located before setting up the trailer!!
