Highway or byway..

2 weeks till we head out from Manitoba to Disney.
Weíve given ourselves 4 days to get there. Donít really have much planned for the way down..
Do most just stick to the interstate? Or the secondary highways?
Wonít be driving 75 on the interstate, so maybe the highways might be better?

When i "need" to be somewhere like Disney reservations, I personally stick to the interstates to "get there".
On the way home is when I take the byways.
Going to Disney, you probably will be taking the Florida Turnpike from the interstate over to Orlando.
Have a few dollars for the toll and it is a LEFT exit.
Been to Disney over 15 times from the midwest and would go again this year if the wife didn't want to go west. LOL

I just got back.. I had 3 days to get to Disney from NJ. It was a grueling 7 hour drives each leg at 75 mph on rt 95. Stops in NC and GA.

1. Family has to eat
2. family needs to use bathroom
3. Family has to stretch legs.
4. Traffic, Traffic, traffic.

What ever time you think you will get there add several hours to that #...

On the way home we took the scenic route through Alabama TN, KY, NC, VA, WV, PA. Took 2 weeks to get home lol. 250 or so miles a day is enough for me.

IMO dont make reservations along the way. Drive until you feel you had enough. Then start looking.

Its good to use an app like park adviser, which I used. It lists every RV park there is. With the heat you will need to find electric for the A/C. I stayed at state parks. Cheaper..No sewer. Elec Water only.

When I am doing trips that I know will need over night stops I stick to the interstates because I know I will have truck stops and rest areas to stop for the night. I know a few spots were 70 up here in the NE and I think 95 had a few 75 sections in the south.. I do not do much above 65 and we survived... Will be making the trip in December again to the Mouse House.

I use the Ependydad 45mph average speed theory. Covers breaks and fuel stops. We drove from PA to Disney and wanted to arrive at 1pm... We arrived at 1:05pm
