Hunting Island-anyone there after the rebuild.

Hurricane Mathew did a number on Hunting Island and the surrounding area. After major reconstruction it has opened recently. We are due to go there the first week of Oct. Been there 3 times last three years. Looking for observations from anyone who has been there lately. I know BombDoc is near there and maybe has witnessed the "new" Hunting Island State Park. Is the dead tree forest still on beach? I know the beachfront sites are gone. Wifi working? Heard restrooms were rebuilt. Is the store still there. There were some beautiful bicycle trails,... still there?

What say you all?

We were there 4 weeks ago. Ocean front sites were wiped away, along with lots of damage to those restrooms. The interior sites were in good shape, but there is so much standing water the mosquitos are TERRIBLE! Store is open. New restrooms in the interior area. Beach was beautiful. Dunes washed away at the oceanfront sites.
After Irma, it's closed again till next year. We were supposed to go back in November but they cancelled our reservation. Same issues with Edisto.

Here is their advisory from the state park website.

If you look on their FACEBOOK page, they have pictures of the campground and the store is still standing, but site #107, which i s on the backside of the middle loop was wiped out.

If you have a FACEBOOK page, I "think" this link will work. https://www.facebook.com/SC.State.Pa...type=3&theater
