Littoral Adventure, thanks for the info just so happens we are staying in Slidell, LA this afternoon. Wish we could go out to eat however with the covid and me having a bad immune system because of my Stem Cell transplant we must be very careful in our travels.

Well left SC around 8:30 am since we crossed into central time we arrived at Slidell LA around 2:30 pm. Did not realize we are only about 20 miles from New Orleans, so far I-10 road is A-OK.
When we were say 50 miles from our RV park I looked in my right side mirror saw something flapping like a LONG piece of paper. So slowed down around 15 more miles we pulled into a truck stop. The bottom side of the RV lower medal trim panel around 6 feet had broken loose and surprised it was flapping like that.
So worked it back under the basement molding and duck taped it. I can't lay on anything hard but we do what we must. Laid on the concrete got the bolts out that hold it to the frame. The medal pulled loose from the bolt and the bolts were loose.
So found some BIG flat washers in my junk box and lock washers. Put some electric tape around the bolt threads and screwed them back in, that tape seemed to make them hold somewhat better. Put duck tape over the bolt heads to try and keep them from working out going down our USA smooth roads. We have two more days to travel I believe it will be ok. Is 75 here just beautiful.

Tomorrow we will be on the east side of Houston

Yes Woody we only came down I-10 about 4 miles towards New Orleans to get to our RV park we will go back up in the AM and get onto I-12 we have came this way before to south Texas last time was say 10 years ago then we started to take I-20 because 10 was not safe to drive on it was so bad. So far from FL to here if has been good. Just hoping it continues that way.

Traveling is a pleasure when the road are not so rough they are dangerous.

Lots of construction around Hammond & Lake Charles (LA) and Beaumont & Houston (TX) the last time I went that direction. That was about three years ago. I was coming from San Antonio and took a combination of State highways and FM roads to the north of Houston that took me to Beaumont where I got back on I-10.

Google maps currently shows a section of I-10 (west-bound) closed west of Beaumont.

I would consider taking a US or State highway around Houston.

Right after Vinton, La the last few miles to the Sabine River bridge are really rough and it’s just 2 narrow lanes with walls on both sides. The road surface is a little wavy after the bridge for 3 miles or so, then it’s good smooth concrete. After Beaumont there’s construction you can take Hwy 124 that runs parallel to I-10 then get back on before Winnie. After that it opens up to 3 lanes to Houston.

There’s construction just east of Houston. A couple miles after the Old and Lost river bridge, there’s a couple spots the left lane is closed, so the 2 right ones get backed up, not much you can do about it.

I-10 thru Houston will slow down around downtown. After you pass I-45, 10 opens up to 5-6 lanes all the way to Katy. The next slow down will be after Katy to the Brazos river, lots of construction.

Seems like you would take US59/I-69 south to get to Rockport. That’s how we go when we go to Corpus. Once you get past 610 on the west side of town the traffic will be OK. Lots of lanes til Rosenberg where it’s down to two.

We use the Waze app to check the traffic up the road. Google maps also helps.

Thanks Sergiop, yes we take 59 then to Rockport cutting off on RT188.

At Beaumont is traffic stopped? So 124 you stay on it an it takes you back to 10?

In Beaumont it’s not, but right after the 96 split it’s messed up. At Walden Rd get off and take a left to 124. Then right on 124 to Fannett, take a right on 365 back about a mile to 10.

That’s good news! Sam Houston Tollway is good. You avoid all the downtown interchanges and traffic. 59 should be smooth sailing.

Last time I drove I-10 thru Houston with my 42” Wildcat. I barely hit my brakes. Virtual no traffic at all. Of course I left New Orleans around 2am Jan 1. Seems every one was sleeping off bringing in the new year the night before. That said it’s the only time I didn’t face traffic issues in Houston

Mooseu, we have been down to South Texas for 11 winters and we usually always traveled around Houston on 610 new years morning as you said no traffic early.

I can say I-10 is pretty good actually amazing compared to the way it was say 9 year ago when we last traveled it and started to take I-81 or I-29.
Was a pleasure driving the new F350 on our 1st big trip, did earn one thing you use allot more DEF towing than not towing. After say 1800 miles or so had to get almost 6 gallons. Not towing I hardly use any DEF.
We will leave here around 8 am or so and hopefully have an uneventful last day of travels.

I was sort of indirectly for the creation of the forest rive forums. Back in 2000 with our 1st cedar creek there was no RV club so I started the Cedar Creek RV Club. Over two years it grew I we had a rally each year. Then allot of other RVers wanted to join the club so I wanted to open up to any forest river owner. But most Cedar Creek members did not wish to so I did now. Then two members of the Cedar Creek RV Club started the Forest River Forums. Actually I would not wish to be responsible for a forum this big, Happy travels live sure is sweet in your RV. How many people can just hook up their house and go where ever the open road takes them.

We left Houston around 8:15 am Sam Houston Toll Road traffic was not bad. Picked up 59 once out of the city that was construction for away but traffic not bad. We then picked up 77 south the beginning was just a little rough then we got on new paved roads. We took 239 down to 35 and that to our RV Park.
Setup have a few minor things to do yet tomorrow.

Was sunny and 62 here, Thursday and Friday in the 70s so we will go to the beach those days I may do some surf fishing.
Tomorrow I will get my 1st fresh gulf shrimp.

Away before Rockport you cross a bay forget the name but there were 59 shrimp boats shrimping out there.

Will be 75 again today we are heading to the beach and surf fishing today for the 1st time. Down here you can drive right out onto the beach. The sand is to be ok packed down good I was told. Stay safe and may God bless our planet and mankind. Life sure is sweet in your RV

Yeah, but get ready for Saturday and Sunday. It's supposed to be cold and very windy. Very gusty. Nasty stuff from the North. Enjoy today while you can.

WOW there are allot more winter Texans down here beach was packed with trucks and people surf fishing. Things can sure change in two years, I know allot the RV parks down here keep adding more sites.
Yes windy this morning and 59 at 7am. We have wintered here for 10 years then covid then covid came missed the last two winters.
Down here they call cold fronts blue northern s. But still beats PA in the winters they say 80 by Wed then another cold front comes may stop that by the end of January one never knows.
We have tried south Florida but we like the beach and down here you can get to the beach and drive right onto it.
Stay safe and enjoy life no matter where life finds you.
