Jonathan Dickinson SP in FL question

Jonathan Dickinson SP in FL question: opinions on the 2 campgrounds located in the park please - looks like one may have a lot of bugs while the other may have a lot of road noise (& no shade?). Also - things to do nearby while at this park - thanks!

We have stayed there several times. Really like it. The front campground is near the road but the noise was not that great and as you say no shade. This campground can handle any size RV. The inside campground is near the river and accommodates smaller RVs. Have not stayed at this one but have been by it on the way to the launch.

Jupiter inlet is not too far away with access to the beach and fishing at the inlet. A couple of miles south of the inlet the beach is dog friendly. We go there to take the pups for a run on the beach. The river is nice for kayaking and there is a boat tour that takes you several miles up the river. Lots of hiking and biking trails if you are into that.

Windjammin covered most of it.

We were there last year (river loop) and are going back in March (working our way to the keys).

The river loop is better suited for smaller rigs. Bugwise pretty much anywhere you go depends on wind. They weren't an issue.

This is a huge park.

The upper campground is pretty open with not much privacy, but spots are large.

The river is really nice for kayak/canoe (rentable). Tons of trails both biking and hiking. It seems to be a major mountain bike destination as they have a large well developed course. Very nice nature center with exhibits and kids activities.

And there's always the beach, ICW etc. And lots of restaurants etc in Jupiter.

How long is your RV? If less than 30 then I would definitely try to get in the back loop. Front loop open lot. I used to stay there when I had a 24 unit but would not stay there in the front loop.

But a word of caution:
The River loop has been rebuilt due to a fire since those photos were taken. The upper loop is a bit more vegetated now.

Thanks everyone - cannot believe 6 yrs camping often & have not seen the CampSite photos site before. Guess reserve America has always had decent photos & if not there then google maps. Unfortunately google maps drive thru is from 2011 and the photos are old now too?

Quick amenity question - sewer hook up on site for the front loop? And has the dump station moved out of the middle of the River loop? Love the flexibility of a 21' TT

We tend to try to fish a bit and love kayaking so y'all have some positive input there - now if someone can tell me where the fish are & what they are eating that would be great

Camped in the river loop two years ago. Only disadvantage for a long stay is no dump station. Have to go to the front loop if you need to dump. I have a sewer tote but it's about 6 miles to the front loop and didn't want to tow the tote that far so had to load it into the TV. River loop has a camp store for essentials and ice. Front loop not far to a supermarket. Bugs not bad in February. Beautiful beaches and good restaurants in both directions along the coast.

Thanks - we are still only camping for a week at a time & have gotten really good at keeping black & grey tanks in slow fill mode so we don't have to dump. Looking forward to making a reservation soon!
