My DW is talking about moving there when she retires.

Bump.
I'm assuming you're going with her?

Do I have to? :
I will need to become familiar with the area. Especially the climate, I don’t like being cold.
I am leaning towards a bit further east or south.
My daughter is getting married on Kent Island in July so I expect to become more familiar with the area then.

I hope you like oysters! It would be a sin to live on Kent Island if you don’t eat oysters.
You’re not going to have much luck finding somebody on this forum who lives on Kent Island. You will have a hard time finding anybody who lives on Kent Island anywhere you ask. Kent Island is a wonderful place, but there are hardly any homes there. I heard talk of some retirement-type communities/condominiums in the works, though.
There’s a good bit of development going on near to Kent Island, and the Eastern Shore is a great area with a really laid-back lifestyle.
I envy you.

As stated Kent Island itself is small. You can't get too much further east before you hit Delaware, and not much more to hit the coast. If 'in the area' is what is meant, a lot more housing options open up. Traffic on US 50, especially summer weekends should be avoided if possible.
If you have ongoing medical care needs you will likely be driving a while to get to it.

I love oysters but due to dietary restrictions I no longer enjoy.
My daughter and her fiancé plan to buy a house on Kent Island. Zillow shows houses for sale there.
I suspect I would enjoy the Eastern Shore more.

Actually my doctors told me to stay near to medical care.
I have had my fill of traffic and congestion. Our current town has changed from almost rural to booming congestion.
Personally I prefer Southern Delaware.
Of course she can change her mind again and start talking about the Carolinas and Florida. 😊

That would work for me. Probably not for my DW as she currently wants to be close to our daughter in Annapolis who is talking about moving to Kent Island. She also has her mother living near us who is a beautiful lady but has become high maintenance.
So you have revealed my secret solution. Florida for me and my wife if she desires. Otherwise Florida for me with a motorhome that can eat up the miles up and down the coast comfortably.

Yeah, I haven’t experienced the traffic there but I am no longer interested in wasting my life on congested roads.
This all started because my daughter and her soon to be husband want to move to Kent Island. She works In Baltimore and he works in PG county near DC. I am thinking that the traffic they experience this summer may cause them to rethink this.
They both have good jobs but I wish they would relocate to Delaware.
