Lake George/Placid

Howdy,
We are heading to Lake George and Lake Placid in June and am looking for suggestions. Looks like there are lots of options near L.G. Also, anyone ever camp in or near West Canada Lake Wilderness which is just West of L.G. I am open to any suggestions to camp in that area, we usually try and stay near lakes and rivers. Thanks. Also, taking someone's recommendation for Thousand Trails down in Williamsburg in April.

Old forge camp resort. Right next to water safari and west Canada creek campground is great. Sits on west Canada creek where everyone tubs down. We stayed there, it’s very nice

We stayed at Adirondack Camping Village outside of Lake George, and loved it. Wooded, not crowded, plenty for the kids to do. We were tent camping at the time, but the campground had plenty of room for large campers (my parents were with us in a 34-ft TT).

Several years in a row, we’ve stayed at the Whiteface/Lake Placid KOA in Wilmington NY. Wonderful campground - it’s big, but they’ve done a great job of keeping it wooded. Again, plenty for the kids to do, but big enough sites to have privacy and quiet when you want it.

We went to Lake George last summer and had a great time staying at Moose Hillock. Beautiful place, HUGE sites and a great pool if you have kids.

If you're going to be in Lake George in early-June you'll see thousands of motorcycles there for the big Americade Rally. Don't worry. They're all family-oriented great people. It's nothing like Daytona Bike Week or Sturgis, but you will see a traffic jam of touring motorcycles, of all makes and models, downtown. I went to the rally several times in the early '90s before we started out family. I'm sure it's still the same environment today.

We have stayed at Lake George RV Park. A lot of amenities but also on the pricey side. We drove though Moosehillock. It’s a nice park but you will need a golf cart or your car to drive to the pool. Huge sites.
