Last trip of the season.

Leaving 10 Sept for about a week. Going to Geneva New York to visit DW family for 4 days then on to Oswego to visit more relatives Then return home around 18 September. Looking forward to the trip. No interstates just nice scenery and no hurry.Staying at Junious pond campground in geneva and Sunset RV park in Oswego right on the shore of lake Ontario. Don't have a FRF sticker yet but will have it on a poster in the rear window.

We have stayed at Cheerful valley many times but family suggested the other due to internet and they say it has more to do. also rated higher by Good Sam club. We will try it once.

You might want to note that Junious Pond campground sets RIGHT BESIDE the New York State Thruway with very few trees to absorb the sound!!!! You might want to try and get as close to the front of the campground as possible or all you see/hear is trucks all night.

Well that is the reason we always stayed at Cheerful valley. Since I have paid one night I will stay one night and if the noise keeps us awake we will move to cheerful valley. I will update after the first night.

Well we are back home now and had a nice trip, except for a stupid thing I did. first stop in Pa on the way up I hooked up and started to pull out with my electric jack still down. Had to buy a hand crank one and now need a $73. lower tube to repair.Other than that the stay at Junious ponds campground was nice. very little traffic noise and with windows closed (54 at night) never heard a thing. Beautiful country and nice visit. I have had a camper for 50 years. And this was the one thing that made me feel stupid. I hate hand crank jacks.

My wife and I love the Geneva area, though we tend to lean towards the wineries along Rt.14 and 414. We try to stay at Sampson State Park or shoot over to Keuka Lake State Park off Rt.54. Hope you had time this visit or previous to have dinner at Emile's on 5&20. Best prime rib around, DW and I have driven from the Buffalo area just for it. Good to hear you had a good trip.

We did not get to the restaurant you mentioned but we had some fantastic prime rib at the Phelps Hotel. It was a total surprise. We ordered the petite cut and it was at least a pound. Melt in your mouth and flavorful. We Go there to visit DW family and met some of them for dinner. I also was able to take the electric jack apart and took it to a weld shop. He heated it and straightened it and it works fine. Cheaper than a new tube.We also always visit the wineries on 14 and bring home some NY wine.

Man the last trip of the season!! I'm assuming you are from CanadaJust how much sooner does winter really arrive up there say as compared to where I live here near the Washington DC area?I mean to the point where your fairly certain based on very cold, possibly snowy icy type weather? Or do you tend to pack it up early for the season anyway? Just curious! Plus I need my post count to increase.

We'll be leaving Friday on which, unfortunately, is our first trip of the season, and probably our only one. The weather here has been quite spectacular recently. Five weeks with no rain, humidity around 15% and gin-clear skies. We had fog today for the first time for many weeks, so that's a sign that Fall is imminent

I had cardiac sugery just before Christmas, then DW had rotator cuff surgery in early June. Just as we were getting our breath back, our son, d-i-l and 9-month old grand-daughter (whom we'd never seen) came over from Japan and my sister came over from England. During the Labor Day weekend, we averaged 14 people for every meal over the three days!

We're about to head off on a 10-day trip, with three days at an irv2.com Northwest meet and greet at Silver Cove resort, near Toutle, WA, then maybe across to Astoria, then Tillamook (for the aviation museum in the WW2 blimp hangar).

After that, probably home up through Bremerton, Paulsbo to Port Townsend and then the ferry across to Coupeville and home. Maybe an overnight at the State Park next to the ferry terminal at Coupeville. It was upgraded last fall to have full hook-ups, so we might try it just to see what it's like, even though it's only 40 miles from home. We might have to fight off the Canadian RVers who really love the place.

More news when it's fit to print!
