Maumee State Park - Are the ticks still winning?

We live near Ann Arbor, MI, and used to go to Maumee State Park just east of Toledo in May. It's been about 6 years since we've been there.

We stopped going because the ticks were so, so, VERY prevalent. Not just on any trails, but in the campground in the grass, even.

You could be sitting at the campfire and they would just be crawling up your leg. Very unnerving.

Has anyone been there lately to comment on how the tick population is doing?

We were there for a weekend back in October and didn't notice any. But I feel like May is worse for ticks than October...
