Morgantown wv suggestions
I tried a search and didn't find anything in the forum for suggestions around Morgantown, WV. We are traveling to Cherry Hill Park, near DC from Ohio in mid April. We want to spend a night or 2 mid way and that looks to be about Morgantown.
Anyone have a favorite Dog Friendly RV/campground in that area? Full hook for TT. Probably not a state park. Ideas?
Thanks!

Coopers Rock State Park
This park was electric only but we stayed there last Spring on our trip to New River, WV and enjoyed it. Sites were big and everything seemed clean. There is some great hiking and views there which we did. However, it is snake country and we were warned to stay on trail always while hiking. We only saw one little guy, not a rattler. Apparently, there was a bear there too during our stay but we did not meet him. We camped in a 32 ft. RV and there was plenty of room to navigate.
Good luck- Kevin

Thanks - especially for the note about snakes. If we decide to go the route of a state park this will be a good option. For 2 days electric only would be OK.
We are considering Revelle's Resort. We stayed there about 10 years ago and it was fine. I am wondering if anyone has any updates on it?

Revelle's is too far south. So we are still looking at options , considering a stay in Pennsylvania instead.

We stayed at Chestnut Ridge 2 years ago while visiting in Morgantown. It was quiet and had all hookups.

Rocky Gap SP in Md. Pet loop is the best and they have electric but not sewer. There is a lake for swimming, golf course and casino in the park. Further than halfway but right on Interstate 64.

Coopers Rock
I too suggest Cooper's Rock State Forest. Spacious sites, quiet, clean facilities and friendly staff. Numerous, beautiful trails. Electric only, but water/dump station at entrance. Second suggestion is Chestnut Ridge, close by, but with water and electric at each site. Stay away from Sand Springs CG, it has been overrun by oil/gas workers who live there permanently. That does it for Morgantown!

Great suggestions! Thank you. We are going to stop at a couple of these on our way up and a different one on the way home.
And I noticed on the website for Sand Springs it mentioned about oil works and it looked rather industrial. Thanks for the heads up.

Big Bear Lake
There is a private campground at the last exit heading east just before you get into Maryland. It is Big Bear Lake. Besides the private lots they also have a area for transient campers. Both back in and pull thru sites.
Only 3 miles off I-68.
Big Bear Lake > RV
Deluxe RV Site
- Pull Thru Site
- Electric
- Water
- Sewage
- Picnic Table
- Fire Ring
I have a full time site here for when I am not going someplace else.

on Route 79 in WV at the first exit after the welcome center coming south from Pa there is a full service campground going right at the exit. Established for WVU football fans.
