Myrtle Beach Lakewood CG site info

We're traveling soon to Lakewood Campground in Myrtle Beach.
They tell us we have a ocean front site. We have a 37' MH.

Does anyone know which direction the rigs face parked ocean front?

Facing inland would avoid ocean wind and morning sun.
Facing ocean would provide awesome view and avoid evening sun.

Of course where the hookups are located will dictate a lot.

I've been there several times, but never got ocean front. They all seem to be set up with the living area pointing toward ocean side. Most of them down on the end we stay at don't see the ocean. There is a dune that's in the way. Not sure about all of them, though. We like to stay on the side opposite of the water park. Seems a little quieter. We'll be there over the 4th. We look forward to this vacation the most every year. Great campground!

Your rig will be parked facing north east.

Now we know. We visited the 3rd week of June 2017 oceanfront site 2601. All sites are back in with the longer sites on the south side and facing inland. The north side sites appeared shorter and faced the ocean. Our mh is 37' so we were placed in a longer southern site. Worked out great as our rig sets up high enough for us to see the beach over the dunes through our dinette windows each morning. Lakewood is a nice campground and family friendly. We would stay here again. One notable distinction from ocean lakes campground next door is ocean lakes is all pull throughs with paved sites. Ocean lakes also appeared to have more space between sites for that reason.

In the Future

Check out Huntington Beach State Park, about 30 miles south of Myrtle.. It's also right on the beach, but the beach is in the middle of a wildlife preserve.. Beautiful. We just was there last week, our second time, and in the middle of the day there was about 25 people on the beach, very low key, and beach is gorgeous and unmolested.. probably 1/2 the sites are shaded as well to help keep the temps down. It doesnt have that camp in a parking lot feel that the larger campgrounds have.

Thanks ronheater. Huntington Beach is a low key gem not far from main Myrtle. We've visited there in the past to view the alligators and beach comb but we've yet to camp there.
