Nor'easter at Castaways RV
This was supposed to be a Mother's Day weekend trip to Castaways RV Resort in Ocean City, MD. We were there last year and booked site B07 last year. We came down despite the predictions of a nor'easter blowing through on Friday and Saturday. The 150 mile drive from Central MD to the coast was uneventful. The tv got out 10.5mpg average. We managed to arrive and get set-up in the dry but by Friday morning the weather turned nautical! The site we have is the closest to the water and the wind/rain was quartering onto the trailer from the left rear corners. Heavy rain and wind gusts to 40mpg made us feel like we were in a boat! Everything stayed dry inside and because of the orientation I was able to get a Dutch oven pizza cooked Friday evening.
Friday night was very windy but with everything battened down we had no worries except taking the black lab out to handle her business. Sitting inside a snug trailer Friday evening with the TV on and a nice fake fireplace going while a nor'easter raged was an experience!
The resort had their hot tub running and on Saturday their pool bar was busy. We have already booked for next year!
The trip home was just as uneventful but the wind had shifted and was in our face the whole way home. Our MPG's dropped to 8!!!!
Overall it was a great weekend and we had no issues with the Rockwood in some challenging conditions!!
