On the road/ travel talk

Hickories Park in Owego, NY is very nice. Full hook ups, it is located right on Susquehanna River. They do not take reservations, we usually get there on a Wednesday to get a site. http://www.townofowego.com/parksdepartment. Price is usually $25.00 to $30.00 per night paid by check or cash after you find your site. We are not boaters but assume you can kayak in the river. Also it may be slightly outside your 3 hour travel window. They also have large dog park, 3 holes of golf and last year in August a large anitique Auto show.

Here's a couple photos from our last stay there. Old park with lots of rock. Does have a laundry facility and there are some electric sites although we didn't have one.

You're gonna love it! Take a day and drive down to Alexandria Bay and do the mansion cruise tour to Boldt Castle on Hart Island. Well worth it!

The ONLY place to stay at Promised Land is on the Pickerel Point Loop.... bottom half of loop FHU... upper loop is 20/30/50E only... bathhouse and all facilities a few years old... even has a laundry. Not really a bad site in that loop... there are also three cabins available that are spotlessly clean and cheap to rent.

All other loops in the park are parking lot style and semi-rustic... not impressive.

Looks awesome... we were able to grab a 20A electric site... The site faces north but is an interior on the end of the loop... lucky to get that. Fought on Reserve America for weeks to get any site there... cant wait to go.

If you check out almost anywhere in the Adirondacks, look into the D.E.C. run campgrounds. Many of them are set up as primitive campgrounds that have large waterfront sights, of course with out hook ups. Many of these so called lakes will be called ponds. There are alot of them and some are huge. Friend of mine stayed at one last summer, sorry forget the name of it, and got a water front site booking a week or two in advance. The OP can also check out by region or distance campgroundreviews.com for alot of answers to his question.

We went down for a day trip last Sunday. Many of the roads & camping areas were closed due to trees down recent storm coupled with construction.
We were hoping to get a peek @ the site we booked Cain Hollow.
